My Journey with Sabre Motorsport: A Driver’s Perspective
Breaking into motorsport can really feel like an uphill battle. It’s a sport that demands not just skill, but also significant resources, and sometimes the biggest hurdle (apart from funding!) is just finding the right opportunity. Fortunately, I have found my path with Sabre Motorsport.
Under the leadership of Dennis Martin, a legend in New Zealand motorsport, Sabre isn’t just any old team – it’s a launchpad for young drivers like me. Dennis’s own journey is a testament to the power of hard work and determination. He’s been in motorsport since the ’60s, and his experience shows in every aspect of the team. Dennis built Sabre Motorsport not just to win races but to help young drivers like me achieve our dreams.
Sabre offers an “arrive and drive” service, meaning they provide everything you need to race – from the car and crew to all the technical support. This has allowed me to focus entirely on improving my driving, knowing the team is behind me 100%.
One of the biggest advantages of racing with Sabre is the team’s commitment to making sure every driver has the best chance to succeed. The cars are meticulously prepared – every nut and bolt checked – giving me the confidence that when I hit the track, I’m driving a car that is at its best.

The Sabre crew members are super dedicated, and they’re invested in seeing me and the other drivers develop – it’s like a family (and Cherie’s home-baking is always exceptional!)
